Who we are
SAUK Utilities Limited (trading as SAUK Utilities Ltd) is the data controller for the personal information described on this page. We are registered in England & Wales, company number 07979499, with our registered office at 175 Rotherham Road, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S71 2LG. Our operational head office is at Winston Business Park, Churchill Way, Sheffield S35 2PS.
If you have any question about how we handle your information, email office@saukutilities.co.uk or call +44 114 349 5201.
What we collect
Contact form. Your name, company (optional), email address, phone number (optional), the site location and whatever you write about the scope and programme.
Careers form. Your name, phone number, email address, the role you are interested in, your preferred depot, the tickets and accreditations you hold, and anything you tell us about yourself in the free-text box. If you email us a CV separately, we hold that too.
Website use. Our host, Cloudflare, keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time of request) for security and to keep the site running. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless: it counts visits and page views without identifying you. We do not set any cookies of our own, and there is no advertising or tracking on this site.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
Enquiries and quotes. We use what you send through the contact form to answer your enquiry and, where it leads to work, to prepare a quotation and set up the job. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, and — where you are asking about work — taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
Recruitment. We use what you send through the careers form, or by email, to consider you for a role, contact you about it and check that you hold the tickets a role needs. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in recruiting people, together with our legal obligations as an employer — for example, checking the right to work in the UK and holding safety-critical training records.
Running the website. Server logs and aggregate analytics are used on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and understanding how it is used.
We do not add you to a marketing list, and we do not make any automated decisions about you.
Who processes it for us
We use a small number of suppliers to run the website and handle what you send us. Each acts on our instructions under a written contract.
- Formspree Inc. (USA) — delivers the contact and careers forms to our inbox. Form data is transferred to the United States under safeguards such as the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, and Formspree is certified under the Data Privacy Framework.
- Cloudflare — hosts the website and provides the cookieless analytics described above.
- Microsoft 365 — our email and document system, where enquiries and applications are received and stored.
- Google — supplies the web fonts used on every page and, if you choose to open the 3D view of our Sheffield depot on the home page, the map imagery. Your browser requests these directly from Google, which will see your IP address when it does.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries — 12 months after our last contact with you. If the enquiry becomes a job, the details move into our project records and are kept for as long as that contract and our accounting obligations require.
- Unsuccessful applications — 6 months after we tell you the outcome, in case a similar role comes up or you ask us why.
- Successful applications — moved to your personnel file and kept for the length of your employment plus the statutory period afterwards.
- Server logs — held by Cloudflare for a short rolling period and not kept by us.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy (access);
- correct anything that is wrong (rectification);
- delete your information (erasure);
- stop using it for a while (restriction);
- stop using it altogether where we rely on legitimate interests (objection);
- give you your information in a machine-readable form (portability).
Email office@saukutilities.co.uk and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Children
This website is aimed at businesses, residents on our programmes and people looking for work with us. It is not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this notice
