Gas operatives — trainee to main layer
GNO1 operatives, service layers and main layers on gas pipe replacement projects. Whole gangs or individuals — both welcome to apply. Experience counts, but a trainee willing to learn gets a start too.
We're a contractor that does the basics properly — and we hire people who want to do the same. Operatives, supervisors, plant operators and office roles in Sheffield, Nottingham and Leicester, on a programme of work that doesn't dry up.
We're not the biggest contractor in the East Midlands, and we don't try to be. What we do is keep good teams busy on steady, well-organised work — with the equipment, training and back-up to do it properly.
That means kit that works, PPE that fits, depots kept in order. It means programmes that hit the ground when they say they will, and supervisors who'll back you when a job gets awkward. And it means time off when you book it, pay when it's due, and a phone call that gets answered.
Beyond pay and the day rate, here's what's standard across every role at SAUK.
A multi-year gas programme with Cadent — work planned seasons ahead, not week to week.
SCO, NRSWA, plant tickets and refresher training scheduled and supported.
Plant maintained on schedule, PPE that fits, depots stocked and kept in order.
Sheffield, Nottingham and Leicester. Work close to home where it fits.
For site teams we run both models — tell us which suits your gang when you apply. And whichever you choose, Vac-Ex support is supplied free of charge: the safe way to dig doesn't come out of your price.
If your role isn't listed but you think you'd fit, send us a CV — we always read them.
